Action Plan to Stop Congress from Restricting Health Care Choices

Your health is something you never take for granted. But are you aware that not one of your health care choices is guaranteed? They were won by millions of people who took action to open up access to natural products and practices for you and me.

Over the past two weeks, renewed and vigorous efforts from Congress and the media are underway to undermine DSHEA - the law passed by over 2.5 million consumers to guarantee our right to purchase dietary supplements. This law works and has helped the health of millions of Americans - but now, the New York Times, Senator Kennedy, Congressman Waxman and many others are saying it is "clearly the time for Congress to revisit DSHEA and give the FDA the authority it needs to protect American consumers from dangerous supplements."

The threats to our health choices are real and so are our opportunities to broaden our choices to create real health freedom. In order to succeed, we are turning to you.

Congress and the media do not believe there is strong consumer support for access to natural medicines - we need to show them this is not the case. We need to start organizing locally - through houseparties, local meetings with Members of Congress, and other local events - and nationally - through massive letter writing campaigns and Congressional briefings.

2) We are organizing a Congressional Briefing May 19 - to bring our pro-active agenda to Congress. The FAIR Health Agenda levels the playing field for natural and integrative health approaches and protects your access to dietary supplements.

3) We will send over 100,000 emails and hand written letters to Congress and urge them to support the FAIR Health agenda.

4) The first week of June, hundreds of Citizens for Health supporters will meet with their Member of Congress in their hometown and ask for their support during our National FAIR Health Lobby Week.
