Earth Day celebrations also apply to mainstream people who cruise in their gas-guzzling Hummers in their ironed khakis and shiny loafers.
The family-oriented environmental events reinspire those in the know while educating the unaware about the local, national and worldwide problems that could change Earth as we know it.
Some solutions can be as easy as planting a butterfly-friendly bush in your yard or switching brands of coffee.
The nationwide observance that falls on April 22 began with Wisconsin Sen. Gaylord Nelson, according to Earth Day Network.
Nelson founded Earth Day in 1970 as the first nationwide environmental protest.
