A five-volume report on environmental conditions at the Paramus Municipal Pool has revealed PCB levels up to 162 times state health standards.
The report consists almost entirely of raw data and outlines the presence of PCBs and pesticides on lawns and play areas around the pool.
The borough began preliminary tests of soil there last fall in response to concerns about contamination discovered last May at nearby West Brook Middle School. The results of the first pool tests showed the presence of pesticides and PCBs and led to the more recent and more comprehensive study, which was conducted by Boswell Engineering. Read More
