WASHINGTON – Congress’ job-approval rating has sunk to its lowest point in three decades, according to the latest Gallup Poll.

A survey of 1,016 adults July 10-13 found that 14% approve of the job Congress is doing. That’s half President Bush’s record-low 28% job-approval number, and the lowest congressional rating since Gallup first began asking the question in 1974.

Seventy-five percent disapprove of Congress, and 10% have no opinion, the poll found.

“I think it’s a combination of both the economy overall being in the doldrums and also certainly the high gas prices,” said Donald Wolfensberger, director of the Congress Project at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
