Colorado businesses have contributed $1.1 million to help defeat three ballot measures viewed as anti-union, including Amendment 47, according to secretary of state filings.
Business leaders pledged this month to raise $3 million as part of a deal with organized labor that led to the removal of four union-backed measures from the Nov. 4 ballot.
The deadline to reach that commitment was Friday, but lead fundraiser Walter Isenberg said last week that businesses would "continue to fundraise until we have met our commitment."
The Colorado Bankers Association gave $215,000 and Western Plains Capital gave $200,000. ProLogis, Vail Resorts and a limited liability company in Greeley called 4334 each gave $100,000. Xcel Energy contributed $75,000 and Wal-Mart Stores gave $50,000.
The money was funneled into Colorado Businesses for Sensible Solutions, an issue committee formed to fight Amendments 47, 49 and 54.
