Green Building Methods Will Last

Along with nearly every other sector, demand in the building trade is down recently because of the struggling economy. But there is positive news in that arena, and hope for brighter days ahead. A sign of things to come was visible at an event held recently by Build Green Connecticut focusing on more efficient and environmentally friendly construction methods. More than 100 builders attended the Darien forum, and heard talks about ways to win official green certification for homes.

Demand for this technology is growing, and not just among the socially conscious. Developers and owners understand the financial benefits to be realized from improved energy efficiency, better insulation and other improvements.

And there's an understanding that states and municipalities are likely to become more active in mandating certain practices and materials. Before that day arrives, it's important for those who ply the trade to understand how the industry will look in coming years.
