SOS Food Potluck & Documentary Film Showing
Come help plan our spring action against GE foods!
Dear Friends,
It's been a long time since we've last met. In 2006 150 people from all over New York State came together in Albany to push legislation that would regulate genetically engineered foods and crops. For the first time the New York State Assembly voted to adopt legislation to label genetically engineered seeds and protect farmers from an out-of-control biotechnology industry. In spite of the Assembly's unanimous support the legislation never even made it to the floor of the Republican-controlled State Senate.
Now with the election of Barack Obama, and the New York State Senate in Democratic hands, we have an opening to push our legislative agenda forward. Let's revitalize our efforts and plan a renewed strategy for action.
We're calling a meeting for Thursday, February 12 at 7pm at Sixth Street Community Center to plan our spring offensive! Before the meeting we'll be showing the documentary film Unnatural Selection from 6:30pm - 7pm. Please bring food or drink to share if you can.
Hope you can join us.
