With Thanksgiving and the new year fast approaching, I thought now would be the optimal time to review some of my top health tips.

So here's my own list of 12 strategies I believe can support your health.*

Omega-3s

I believe krill oil is, by far, the best source of omega-3s you can take. But there are so many krill oil products out there, how do you pick the right one?

First, you want one that is certified by the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) because that means that the way the krill are harvested and handled is sustainable, so you not only end up with a superior quality product, you also are supporting good fishing practices.

In addition to being sustainable, my Krill Oil uses Licaps instead of softgels. Licaps help prevent the krill oil from oxidizing, but you'll also notice a big difference when you open the bottle. My Krill Oil doesn't smell, other products have a fishy smell.

High-Quality Protein

I actually use 2-3 servings of Pure Power Protein each day to make sure I'm getting enough protein and calories. You should make sure your protein is coming from a high-quality source like grass-fed beef or Alaskan salmon that has low levels of mercury.

Your whey protein should be made from pasture-fed cows' milk and be free of chemicals, added sugars, and artificial sweeteners.

It's also important to get whey protein concentrate and not isolate. Isolates have their nutritional cofactors stripped away and simply aren't as good for you as concentrates are.

If you're taking whey protein to support your fitness efforts, you should take it about 20-30 minutes before or after your workout.
