New Organic Spies Video: Whole Foods Hidden Camera GMO Sting - Bait Organic, Switch to GMO

Not all of Whole Foods Market's employees are aware that they're selling unlabeled GMO foods, and Organic Spies has now caught many on camera, swearing up and down that Whole Foods is a GMO-free store.

It's the old “bait-and-switch.” Whole Foods lures customers in on the promise of local, organic and non-GMO products, then sends them out of the store with bags full of overpriced, so-called "natural" versions of the same genetically engineered foods sold in conventional supermarkets.

Is it any wonder that Whole Foods hasn't given any money to Proposition 37, the California ballot initiative to label genetically engineered foods?

They're just not ready to give up the money they're making selling Monsanto's GMOs.

Are you a Whole Foods shopper? Let them know what you think.

Missing Parents Alert!

90 percent of mothers and 88 percent of fathers are in favor of labeling GE foods, according to the survey conducted by the Mellman Group. But two parents are holding out: President and Mrs. Obama.

Back on the campaign trail in 2007, then-candidate Obama promised if we elected him president, he’d support GMO labeling. So far, he’s broken that promise.

We’ve launched a petition asking Michelle Obama, who speaks out regularly on the issues of poor nutrition and childhood obesity, to remind President Obama of his promise. If we get 200,000 signatures by Oct. 1, we’ll deliver this petition to the White House in person and make sure there’s plenty of media coverage.

We’re so close – only about 24,000 signatures to go.  If you haven’t already, please add yours!

You Could Be Monsanto’s Worst Nightmare!

For decades now, Monsanto has been getting away with murder. Poisoning our soil and food. Monopolizing seeds. Terrorizing small farmers who dare to stand up to them. Suppressing research on the health effects of GMOs.

But the tables are finally turning.

Instead of letting Monsanto be our worst nightmare, we – the grassroots defenders of our health, our planet, and our basic right to know what’s in our food – are on our way to becoming Monsanto’s worst nightmare.

And you can join in, too.  In less than two weeks, Californians will start voting, Yes or No, on Prop 37, the nation’s first citizen-initiated law to label GMOs. The outcome of the final vote, on Nov. 6th, will have a huge and lasting outcome on the future of GMOs and transparency-in-labeling.

The biotech industry is running scared. So far Monsanto has donated $7.1 million to the campaign to defeat GMO labeling in California. All told, the NO on 37 campaign has amassed a war chest of $33 million to saturate the airwaves with their lies and scare tactics.

We can beat them with far less than $33 million – but we do need to raise enough money from the grassroots to get California voters out in record numbers to pass this historic law.

Please join the campaign that has become Monsanto’s worst nightmare by helping us raise $1 million by Sept 30. We can win this! Thank you!

You Against Monsanto

It takes $2.99 and 50 minutes to download and watch Jeffrey Smith's new documentary film Genetic Roulette. Through interviews with patients, doctors, and parents, the film explains how consuming genetically engineered food could lead to numerous health implications such as diabetes, cancer, heart attacks, allergies, autism, asthma, premature aging, autoimmune disease, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, infertility and other reproductive disorders.

It's easy to summarize the facts of the film, but isn't easy to explain how you'll feel once you've watched it. After seeing this film you'll want at least two things:

1. To avoid eating GMOs (and feeding them to your family); and
2. To get labels on GMOs, so it's easy to avoid them.

It would be a lot harder to watch Genetic Roulette if it weren't for the inspiring section at the end about Prop 37, the California "Right to Know" ballot initiative to label GMOs. By the end of this film, you'll want to do all you can to help this historic initiative pass on Nov. 6.

Congress Leaves Its Work - And Monsanto's Evil Schemes - Until After the Election

Congress hasn't passed a new Farm Bill, and even though the old one expires on September 30th, Congress has split town, leaving its work until after the November election.

Monsanto's evil scheme to sneak provisions into the Farm Bill that would grease the skids for even shoddier reviews and quicker approvals of dangerous new genetically engineered crops is also on hold.

You've got one more chance before the election to urge your Senators and Member of Congress to stand up to Monsanto.

The So-Called 'Natural' Products Association Defends Its Stand Against Our Right to Know About GMOs

In addition to requiring labels on genetically engineered food, Prop 37 would stop widespread fraud in the so-called "natural" products industry, where genetically engineered foods - Kashi's (non-organic) cereals are a good example - are commonly marketed as "natural." It is no surprise that the Natural Products Association industry trade group would want to stop Prop 37 from passing, even if it has to spread Monsanto's lies. That's what they've been doing ever since Organic Consumers Association members started emailing their leadership, complaining about the NPA's anti-right-to-know stance.

Safeguarding Organic Standards

Thank you to the thousands of you who responded to our urgent alert asking for you to send comments to the National Organic Standards Board in advance of their October meeting. A big issue at this meeting is whether to allow synthetic nutrients to be added to organic infant formula. Actually, the issue is whether to allow MORE synthetics; choline and inositol were approved at the last meeting, and ARA and DHA- produced from mutated microorganisms - were approved at the meeting before that. OCA opposes the use of non-FDA-mandated synthetic nutrients in organic.

Monsanto Makes Rats Grow Tumors; Are Humans Next?

In a recent French lab study, rats that were fed genetically modified foods had a tendency to develop tumors and suffer severe organ damage. GMOs have become a hot topic in the United States, and many consumers who feel humans will suffer the same fate as the lab rats are hoping to put a stop to GMO foods. Alexis Baden-Mayer, political director for the Organic Consumers Association, appears on RT television with more on the startling consequences of the study and why Americans need GMO labels on our food.
