Comment:
As a libertarian, I do not feel that government should be too involved in the free market. As consumers, we must demand such information. As a strict constitutionalist, I feel that the federal government is not supposed to guide the market, only to make sure a market exists between the states. I have a feeling that the federal government would take over the word GMO anyway to define it loosely enough for big money interests to sell whatever they wish anyway. I would like to see USDA and the FDA eliminated. I buy organic food myself and use nutritional supplements. The federal government is now a big problem with both. With organic food, they have hijacked the word "organic". It does not mean what the public feels organic should represent, but what the federal government feels benefits large scale agriculture. With supplements there has been a strong attack on virtually all supplements. I do not feel that the federal government can be controlled for our benefit. We must use the Constitution to bind the federal government to its few tasks and take back the reins of power from it. State governments may have a role, but I still feel we have more power as individuals. Personally, I feel that the organic and the anti-GMO movements need to coin their own words and trademark them, so the feds cannot redefine them. Power to the people for the governments will mess it up.
