British Mad Cow Disease is a fatal illness which has killed more than one hundred people, and its death toll is now doubling every three years. Chronic Wasting Disease, or CWD, is a similar ailment recently found in Wisconsin deer.

While there is no proof that CWD can kill humans, there is scientific evidence that it might, and medical experts urge that no part of any infected deer should be eaten.

British mad cow disease was spread through infected feed made from slaughterhouse waste. For instance, a dairy calf ration is sold that contains protein from cattle blood.

We need a complete ban on the US feeding of slaughterhouse waste to livestock, including farmed and wild deer and elk. In addition, deer, elk and livestock should be extensively tested for mad cow type diseases. Let�s learn from Britain's mistakes before people here start dying.
