SHELF LIFE BY SUE ONTIVEROS

Coffees with a conscience are an emerging trend, and the latest is Chiapas Coffee from Mexico. The coffee beans are grown by some 25,000 farmers who are members of the Integradora Cafeticultures de Chiapas. Being part of the cooperative allows each of the farmers to share in the profit from the coffee line.

The very flavorful shade-grown coffee line includes traditional city roast; rich Vienna roast; classic French roast, and Mexican coffee liquor & cream. The coffees come in different sizes (9 and 12 ounces) as well as in a 2-ounce packet that is great for one pot of coffee. The coffees are available at select Jewel Food Stores.
