Action Alert - Support Cheese Company in Choosing to go rBGH-free

Tillamook Sets General Membership Meeting – This Monday, Feb. 28, 2005

Please Contact as Soon as Possible

Tillamook, a nationwide distributor of dairy products, has announced it plans to go rBGH-free. In response, Monsanto, the main producer of rBGH (Posilac,) has responded by applying intense pressure on Tillamook to reverse that decision.

Tillamook has set their membership meeting to vote on rBGH for this Monday, Feb. 28 at 10:00 a.m.

Please contact Tillamook as soon as possible expressing your support for the board’s decision to go rBGH-free.

If you only have a moment, just click here to send an instant email. Make sure to include your name and address. This is a nationwide company and we want to reinforce what Tillamook already knows - people have serious concerns all over the country about rBGH. If the link above does not work for your type of browser, simply cut and paste the text below into an email message. Feel free to change the wording as you wish.

Dear Tillamook Cheese,

THANK YOU for going rBGH-free (or rBST-free). We support your decision - PLEASE don't go back to allowing this genetically engineered hormone to be used.

We very much oppose Monsanto's attempts to manipulate the internal affairs of Tillamook. We think their actions are highly inappropriate and we're fully supportive of your efforts to prevent these outsiders from interfering with a proud Oregon institution.

This drug increases disease rates in cows and a significant body of scientific data has linked it to possible increases in cancer and antibiotic resistance in humans. It has been banned in most industrialized nations of the world and we don't want to take any unnecessary risks with our family's health.

Most industrialized nations of the world will not allow it to be used and do not agree with the FDA's decision to allow rBGH on the market.

We only want natural, wholesome ingredients in our dairy products, not milk from cows injected with artificial growth hormones. We want to buy (or go back to) Tillamook products, but won't as long as they have rBGH. (IF TRUE)

Sincerely,

Your name and address
