Response: Hi Anna,

Thanks for your e-mail asking about GMOs in our products.

In some cases we are using GMO ingredients. The reality is that for some of the ingredients we use, there is not a dedicated channel for organic ingredients. We are helping to improve this with our work with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil but there is still a lot of work to make this happen.

Unfortunately, the reality is that 60% of corn grown in the US is GMO. The majority of citric acid and sodium citrate produced in the US (predominantly by Cargill and ADM) is derived from GMO corn. The other US commodities that are predominantly GMO are soy and canola. 93% of the soy acreage is GM.

Our laundry detergent does contain sodium citrate, which — in most cases — is derived from US corn. Our Dish Liquid contains citric acid, which also is typically derived from US corn.

If there is any further information that would be of help, please let me know.

Thanks you for your interest in Seventh Generation and our products.
