APPETITE FOR A CHANGE
Nutrition Illiteracy and the U.S. Food CrisisThe crucial importance of organic and healthy food is still ignored by most doctors and policy makers, while government subsidies for chemical-intensive and GMO corporate agribusiness commodities and processed junk food continue. Smart phones, social media, and computer “screen time” dominate people’s lives. Children become addicted to sugar-laden, bad-fat, and hi-carb foods at an early age. Food served up in schools, institutional cafeterias, and most restaurants is atrocious. Sixty percent of American food consumption is highly processed, contaminated with pesticides, drugs, chemical additives, and antibiotic residues, devoid of nutrition, vitamins, and essential trace minerals. Medical illiteracy and malpractice exacerbate America’s food crisis. As a consequence, public health has seriously degenerated with diet-related chronic disease and multiple comorbidities (obesity, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure) now becoming the norm in the U.S., ravaging both children and adults and setting up the most vulnerable for injury and death from lab engineered pathogens. Ronald Hoffman writes: “22% of polled physicians recall receiving no nutrition education in medical school. While the majority of physicians recollect receiving some nutrition education in medical school, 35% of those polled said that came in the form of a single lecture or a section of a single lecture. Unfortunately, the situation does not improve during medical residency. Seventy-three percent of those surveyed felt they received minimal or no education during their medical residency necessary for counseling patients on nutrition topics." And, despite the urgent need, we’re lagging behind our international peers: “Lack of nutrition education appears to be more prevalent in the Americas, where 58% of physicians had no memory of, or there was a notable absence of, nutrition education in medical school. In Asia and Europe, the absence of any education seemed like less of a problem: only 30% of polled physicians in those continents recalled no medical education on nutrition.” And after graduation from medical school, things only get worse: “Lack of nutrition education persists after completion of graduate medical education, where almost half of polled physicians had not received any nutrition continuing medical education. Moreover, physicians were unlikely to be readers or consumers of nutrition education through studies, books, or documentaries post-graduation. In fact, 67% of physicians read about nutrition less than once every 3 months.” Learn More: A Plea for Nutrition in Medicine

HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
Microplastics in Our BodiesEven as committed organic consumers, we must avoid food and beverages packaged in plastic, both at home and in restaurants. For the first time, lab scientists have been able to detect alarming levels of microplastics in human blood.
Kenny Stancil writes in Common Dreams: “A team of toxicologists found microplastics in nearly 80% of the healthy adult blood samples it analyzed, marking the first time that tiny polymer fragments—measuring less than 5mm in size—have been detected in human blood, The Guardian reported Thursday. “Using techniques that allowed them to detect particles as small as 0.0007mm, the scientists, whose research was published in the peer-reviewed journal Environment International, examined blood samples provided by 22 anonymous donors in good health and discovered microplastics in 17 of them. According to The Guardian, "Half the samples contained PET plastic, which is commonly used in drinks bottles, while a third contained polystyrene, used for packaging food and other products. A quarter of the blood samples contained polyethylene, from which plastic carrier bags are made." Read more: Breakthrough Study Finds Microplastics in Human Blood

GAIN-OF-FUNCTION
Biolabs and Genetically Engineered Pathogens in Your Backyard? Take ActionDid you know that genetic engineering isn’t used just in food and agriculture, but also to weaponize pathogens and create biological weapons? It’s not surprising when you learn what Monsanto was doing before it came up with its first GMOs for food production. Monsanto was working as a military contractor. It made Agent Orange for the Vietnam War and refined plutonium for the Manhattan Project. Monsanto also participated in tests to study the dispersal of biological weapons—tests that were conducted without notice or consent on the people of St. Louis, Missouri, in the 1950s and 60s. This story is documented in the book Behind the Fog: How the U.S. Cold War Radiological Weapons Program Exposed Innocent Americans. If you’re just as concerned about GMOs used for biological weapons as you are about GMOs in food and agriculture, please… Sign the petition to stop the genetic engineering of dangerous pathogens. Answer the Biolabs in Your Backyard survey to tell us which biolabs you’re most concerned about. Join the Stop Weaponizing Pathogens Facebook group or sign up for the campaign via email.

MILLIONS AGAINST MONSANTO
Monsanto Seeks "Emergency Delay" After St. Louis Judge Allows Live Video of TrialCarey Gillam writes: “Monsanto on Thursday asked a St. Louis judge to delay the start of a trial over claims brought by three men alleging exposure to Monsanto’s glyphosate-based herbicides, such as the popular Roundup brand, caused them to develop non-Hodgkin lymphoma… The move by Monsanto comes after the judge in the case agreed to allow Courtroom View Network (CVN) to livestream the trial, starting on March 30.” Learn more: Monsanto seeks "emergency" delay for St. Louis trial See Gillam’s earlier report on Roundup/Glyphosate residues in our food

HEALTH ISSUES
Swedish Study Finds 5G Causes "Microwave Syndrome" in HumansTowards Better Health Reports: “The first ever study of the health effects of 5G radiation on humans shows that 5G causes typical symptoms of microwave syndrome as well as a massive increase in microwave radiation. The case study also confirms once again that radiation well below levels allowed by the authorities causes ill health.
" The study was published in the journal Medicinsk Access no. 1/2022 and was carried out by the oncologist and researcher Lennart Hardell from the Research Foundation for Environment & Cancer and Mona Nilsson from the Radiation Protection Foundation. The study concerns the health consequences for a man and a woman who received a 5G base station directly above the apartment, only 5 meters above the bedroom… The symptoms that occurred in the man and woman after the start of 5G are typical of the microwave syndrome: fatigue, difficulty sleeping. emotional impact, nosebleeds, increasing tinnitus and skin problems in the man. The woman had more symptoms than the man with severe sleep disorders and dizziness, followed by skin problems (burning sensation, tingling in the skin of the hands and arms), concentration problems, irritability, tinnitus, balance problems, impaired short-term memory, confusion, fatigue, tendency to depression, heart and lung symptoms (palpitations, heaviness over the chest) and feeling of warmth in the body. All symptoms decreased or disappeared completely after 24 hours after moving to another home with significantly lower radiation…”
