Not long ago, trying to 'buy green' had us seeing red. How much easier is it these days to do the right thing? We hit the stores and found more eco-friendly options.We hit the stores and found plenty of eco-friendly options.
Thirty years ago, a shopper could drive all over town on 65-cents-a-gallon gasoline looking for stores that sold environmentally "greener" products.
Today, those products are far more commonplace. If they aren't on the shelves of stores where we already shop, they are nearby.

Global sales of natural & organic cosmetics are soaring with revenues projected to approach US $7 billion this year. New research by Organic Monitor (www.organicmonitor.com) finds that North America and Europe are the two engines of growth, comprising the bulk of the US $1 billion sales increase this year.

I lost a friend, and the world lost a visionary social activist and human rights defender this week, when Dame Anita Roddick died at age 64 from the effects of a brain hemorrhage.
Roddick, the working class British daughter of immigrants, was an unlikely global business pioneer, who as founder of the socially responsible cosmetics firm Body Shop fought to bring sustainable and ethically-sourced products to the beauty industry long before it became fashionable, earning her the sobriquet "Queen of Green."
