GMO = Genetically Modified Organism
GMOs are created in a lab, by inserting a gene from one organism into another unrelated organism, producing plants and animals that would never occur in nature. No long-term safety studies have been done on humans, but animal studies link the consumption of GMOs to an increase in allergies, kidney and liver disease, ADHD, cancer, infertility, chronic immune disorders and more.
Overlooking potential public health risks, lingering scientific questions, and deficient public data, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) approved the extension of Oxitec’s two-year field trial on Wednesday, which includes releasing several billion more genetically engineered (GE) mosquitoes into the Florida Keys — one of Florida’s most ecologically sensitive areas.

However, scientific research and real-world farming experience show that GM crops have not delivered on their promises of increased yields or reduced toxic chemical inputs.

The transplant took place in January of this year when surgeons transplanted the genetically engineered pig heart into a 57-year-old man with end-stage cardiac disease.
The 57-year-old patient who survived two months after undergoing a landmark pig heart transplant may have died of a pig virus, his transplant surgeon announced last month.
In January, David Bennett, a handyman who suffered from heart failure, underwent a highly experimental surgery at the University of
