MASSACHUSETTS: News from MA Right to GMOs!

MA Right to Know GMOs asked us to share the good news—it is now Regeneration Massachusetts

With last July’s passage of the DARK Act (Deny Americans the Right to Know), GMO food labeling now is unfortunately in the hands of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

But labeled or not, GMO foods are the product of a GMO/industrial agriculture system that depletes our soil, and produces poor-quality food (pesticide residues, reduced nutrition, allergens), while also polluting the air, water, soil and our bodies.

Not only that, but industrial agriculture is a huge contributor to global warming.

Regeneration Massachusetts will continue to call for transparency in food labeling. And it will continue to be involved in the #consumerrevolution, a movement that rejects products made using methods that degenerate our health and environment, and instead works to create demand for products that are good for us, and good for the Earth.

But Regeneration Massachusetts will also focus on and support the political solutions needed to transition away from today’s broken and obsolete agricultural system to a system that promotes organic and regenerative farming methods. If the passage of the industry-sponsored DARK act taught us anything, it taught us that if we want to regenerate our food and farming system, we will also need to regenerate our democracy. And that means also participating in the #politicalrevolution to take back our democracy.

(You can view OCA’s consumer and political revolution platforms here).

For these reasons and more, MA Right to Know GMOs has become Regeneration Massachusetts, in coordination with OCA’s Regeneration International project.

The new organization will hold up solution-oriented organizations across the state and help people become involved with them. Regeneration Massachusetts will continue to help people take action as conscious consumers. It will also support local candidates and policies aligned with the goal of returning control of our agricultural system to the people.

The Regenerative Agriculture movement promotes solutions to build soil health, address climate change and grow healthy and nutritious food while respecting the people who bring it to us. The millions of conscious consumers, parents and real food activists (like you) who brought GMO awareness to the forefront are now helping to reclaim and #regenerate our food system.

As a resident of Massachusetts, and a GMO labeling activist, your support for Regeneration Massachusetts is critical as this new organization works to #resist the corporate takeover of our food and farming system and our democracy, and promote alternatives designed to #regenerate these systems.
