Please do this TODAY!
Today, consumers have come to Washington D.C.—in buses and cars and on foot—from all across the country to tell Congress that we will not sit by and let lawmakers pass H.R. 4432, otherwise known as the Deny Americans the Right to Know (DARK) Act, a federal bill to preempt states’ rights to label GMOs.
A hearing is being held today on the bill.
If you can’t be with us today in D.C., you can still help to make this day a huge success. Please take the following actions:
- Help flood the phone lines on Capitol Hill on December 10. We’re asking everyone who can’t be there in person to call their Congress members on December 10, beginning at 9 a.m. When you are connected with a staff person, you can say: “Hello, my name is [FIRST NAME, LAST NAME] and I live in [CITY, STATE]. I couldn’t attend today’s protest against H.R. 4432, a bill that would preempt states’ rights to label GMOs, but I am calling to ask [NAME OF CONGRESS PERSON] to reject H.R. 4432 and to support states’ rights to pass mandatory GMO labeling laws. Thank you.” Look up your Representatives and Senators here
- Sign our petition asking Congress to reject Pompeo’s DARK ACT.
- Make a donation to help offset the cost of buses, speakers, the press conference and organic lunch.
- Join our Twitter Rally beginning at 7am EST on 12/10 under the hashtag #StopDarkAct.
OCA has been organizing this day of protest for several weeks, with the help of many groups, including Mercola.com, Dr. Bronner’s, Friends of the Earth, National Council of Environmental Legislators, Credo, Cornucopia Institute, March Against Monsanto, Moms Across America, Weston Price Foundation, Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund, GMO Free USA, Maine Organic Farmers and Growers Association, Green America/GMO Inside, MoveOn.org, Food Democracy Now, Maine Sierra Club, Health-Liberty Coalition, and many state GMO Free groups.
Today we will cram as many people as possible into the hearing room. The rest of us will line the sidewalk outside. We’ll hold a rally where speakers will include state and federal legislators, business owners, consumer rights advocates, states’ rights activists, farmers, moms and concerned citizens.
We’ve reached out to hundreds of media outlets to ask them to amplify our voices.
But we still need your help today, to drive home the message that we must protect states’ rights to label GMOs. The DARK ACT could destroy everything the GMO Labeling movement has accomplished so far. Please help today.
