Remembering Pat Kerrigan

Beloved, long-time OCA staff organizer and Board Member Pat Kerrigan passed away after complications related to a heart attack this week in Minneapolis.

Pat helped launch OCA as one of the original and ongoing board members since 1998. He helped organize rBGH milk protests in 1993, and continued with many other campaigns, putting his organizing efforts, heart and passion into including: Save Organic Standards, GMO Right to Know, Planting Peace, Save the Bees, Farmers and Ranchers for a Green New Deal and Regeneration Midwest. He was a force to be reckoned with as a passionate and dedicated organizer.

Pat was a walking encyclopedia for local, organic, and hopeful farming news. He spent his life building bridges for good health and resiliency for mother earth. His dedication, spirit, and deep passion will have lasting effects on the survival of our planet, it’s creatures, and the farmers he so revered. The seeds he planted will bear fruit for years to come. Pat's generous spirit, inclusive and engaging nature, and contagious joy captivated everyone around him.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Patrick Kerrigan was one of the most positive and enthusiastic organic revolutionaries on the planet. Anyone who came into contact with this wild, funny, and beautiful Irishman will never forget him. We are grateful for the inspiration, joy and humor he brought daily to all his interactions. He is loved by so many people and we are honored to have been able to have him as part our team and lives.
