Mexico Denies Permit for New GMO Corn Variety

OCA’s Mexico sister organizations and our allies have just won a major victory against Bayer/Monsanto. As reported by Reuters news service: “For the first time ever, Mexico health regulator Cofepris has refused to issue a permit for a new variety of genetically modified (GM) corn.” The rejection of the permit, heavily criticized by Bayer/Monsanto and the Mexico industrial ag lobby, follows in the wake of a Mexico federal government decree last year to “ban by 2024 both glyphosate and GMO corn for human consumption…”
