Social media has emerged as a primary source of news and other information for Americans, with 53% of adults stating that they “often” or “sometimes” get their news from social media. Facebook is the most popular among the social media sites, with 36% of Americans choosing it as a regular source of news, according to a survey conducted by Pew Research Center.

Facebook has partnered with FactCheck.org, which claims “to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.”
