'It's Disgusting'

It’s hard enough to have any faith at all in the EPA’s ability, much less will to fulfill its intended purpose—to protect the environment and by extension, the people who inhabit the environment.

Now we come to learn that even when protections are put in place, the EPA colludes with corporations to find ways around them.

According to a new report from the Center for Biological Diversity, the EPA routinely allows the use of unapproved pesticides by claiming there’s an "emergency" when in fact, there isn’t.

Stephanie Parent, a senior attorney in the Center for Biological Diversity's environmental health program, said:

"It's disgusting to see the EPA's broken pesticide program bending over backward to appease the pesticide industry," said Stephanie Parent, a senior attorney in the Center for Biological Diversity's environmental health program. "These exemptions put people and wildlife at tremendous risk because they allow poisons to be applied in ways that would otherwise be illegal."

We shouldn’t be too surprised. After all—despite all the evidence to the contrary—this week the EPA declared that Monsanto’s Roundup weedkiller doesn’t cause cancer.
