The First Casualty Is the Truth

As Event 201 eerily foreshadowed, the pandemic response has included severe censorship.

After a year-and-a-half of trying to avoid the censors by limiting what we say on social media, it’s finally become clear that they’re going to try to take us down no matter what we do.

On June 8, the 33k-member Facebook group of March Against Monsanto, launched in 2011 and now known as Battle Against Bayer, was disabled.

Members of Congress are trying to get the Organic Consumers Association deplatformed, as well.

Despite our reticence and self-censorship, the Organic Consumers Association has been put on a list of vaccine safety advocates that the House Energy & Commerce Committee sent to Facebook, Google and Twitter, demanding our deplatforming.

On March 24, the Center for Countering Digital Hate and Anti-Vax Watch published “The Disinformation Dozen: Why Platforms Must Act on Twelve Leading Online Anti-Vaxxers.”

On March 25, the Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing "Disinformation Nation: Social Media's Role in Promoting Extremism and Misinformation.”

On May 27, the entire Democratic leadership of the House Energy & Commerce Committee sent letters to Facebook, Google and Twitter asking these social media companies to de-platform more than a dozen organic and natural health experts and websites, including the Organic Consumers Association, accusing us―without evidence―of spreading vaccine disinformation.

TAKE ACTION: Stop censorship! Don’t let Congress tell social media companies who to deplatform!
