Just last week, OCA staff joined our Mexico affiliate, Via Organica, at OCA and RI’s beautiful 75-acre organic research farm and conference center outside San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. The gathering brought together leading Mexican organic activists, farmers, scientists and high-level government officials from the agriculture and environment departments in Mexico City to plan and strategize how Mexico can complete the official ban on the import of GMO corn and soy and glyphosate and carry out the 2021 government-announced transition from industrial agriculture to agroecology.

This week OCA and Via Organica will be hosting in San Miguel the annual summer gathering of the Organic and Natural Health Association.

Next month, October 16, World Food Day, OCA will join Regeneration International to organize a 24-hour online global teach-in, spanning the whole world, highlighting the best organic and regenerative practices on every continent, and strategizing how we can expand and scale up these world-changing best practices such as RI and Via Organica’s Billion Agave Agroforestry Project, rainforest restoration projects in the Amazon and Southeast Asia, regenerative grazing practices across the world, and the development of large “Organic Zones” in Mexico, the Philippines, Asia, and Africa. Last year’s 24-hour World Food Day broadcast attracted over 500,000 viewers.
