OCA Organizing Film House Parties

OCA house party list

  1. The Future of Food -The producer, Deborah Koons Garcia, is temporarily suspending grassroots distribution of this movie through the OCA and other groups and moving distribution into mainstream movie houses. We hope to be able to offer the movie again through our website in mid-December.

1) Food for the Future

FOOD FOR THE FUTURE tells the story of the founding of the pioneering Floyd Boulevard Local Foods Market (Sioux City, IA) - the first farmers market in the nation to exclusively sell humanely raised animal products and organic/chemical free produce. This 12 minute film demonstrates how one community is "Breaking the Chains" by prioritizing local, organic and fair wages for farmers. In an era of Wal-Mart and the "Big Box" takeover of our food supply and local communities, the Floyd Boulevard Local Foods Market provides an antidote. Click here for more information.

2) Breaking the Chains: The True Cost of Food

Ever wonder what the true cost of the food we eat is? This powerful and humorous 15 minute animated DVD (suitable for viewing for both children and adults) explores and compares the price we pay for toxic, industrial food vs. local and organic. A great conversation starter or gift for your local library or classroom. Click here for more information.

4) "Mad Cow: Plague of the 21st Century?"

"Mad Cow: Plague of the 21st Century?" Dr. Michael Greger, the Mad Cow Coordinator for the OCA, provides a detailed expose of the factory farm practices that are spreading Mad Cow Disease across North America. Greger covers in detail Mad Cow's threats to human health and the ongoing US government cover-up. Click here for more information.

5) Coffee with the taste of the Moon

The new half-hour documentary film, "Coffee with the Taste of the Moon" introduces us to the delightful people who are producers and consumers of the most traded commodity in the world after oil-coffee. From the point of view of the narrator, who one day wonders about the impact of his morning cup, we learn about the powerful and promising sustainability efforts of the rapidly growing Fair Trade and Organic movement. Call OCA the office for more info: (218)-353-7454

6) The Future of Food - Temporarily out of stock

"The Future of Food" provides an in-depth investigation and critique of genetically engineered foods and crops, including interviews with farmer activists such as Percy Schmeiser. According to the Telluride Daily Planet, "This stylish film is not just for food faddists and nutritionists. It is a look at something we might not want to see: Monsanto, Roundup and Roundup-resistant seeds, collectively wreaking havoc on American farmers and our agricultural neighbors around the world. In the end, this documentary is a eloquent call to action." Click here for more information.
