The OCA and other members of theGE-Free Markets Coalition is
organizing a national supermarket call in day, November 25th. We are
asking people to call their local markets, the market managers, and even
supermarket CEOs in an effort to increase pressure on supermarkets
to remove genetically engineered ingredients from their store brand foods.
It will only take a few minutes of your time, so please, call your supermarkets,
don't be shy, demand GE-free food, and don't feel bad if you call more
than one supermarket. Contacting the local store is one route to go, otherwise,
call the national number:

What do I say when I call?

Let the operator know that you are a concerned shopper. You are calling
because you want Shaw's to stop its use of genetically engineered
ingredients in their store brand products just as Whole Foods, Wild Oats
and Trader Joe's have done AND just like Shaw's parent company in
England, J Sainsbury has done too! If they can do it in England, they
can do it here too. Also mention that some biotech companies are
growing pharmaceutical drugs and experimental vaccines in plants such as
corn. Ask what Shaw's is doing to guarantee these don't end up in their
