Finland, Minn. – The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) has received a grant of $79,000 from CREDO, America’s only progressive phone company. The OCA will use the money to fund its continuing campaign for mandatory GMO labeling laws and to promote alternatives to industrial factory farms.

“We are grateful to CREDO for this generous grant, which we will use to continue our education and advocacy work around the health and safety of food, and the urgent need to transition away from today’s chemical-intensive industrial agriculture model to a safer, healthier and more sustainable model of organic, regenerative agriculture,” said OCA International Director, Ronnie Cummins.

“We look forward to collaborating with CREDO on future campaigns around these critical issues,” Cummins added.

OCA was nominated by CREDO customers and chosen among hundreds of nonprofits to be featured as one of three groups eligible in February to receive funding from CREDO for its work to educate consumers about the dangers of toxic chemical-intensive agribusiness and to promote safe and healthy alternatives, including an organic, regenerative farming model.

CREDO customers then helped decide how much money each nonprofit received by simply voting online or via phone or text. To learn more about CREDO’s donations program, go here: http://www.credomobile.com/mission/nonprofit-donations-current.aspx

CREDO has donated more than $78 million to organizations committed to social change since the company was founded in 1985.

In 2014, CREDO donated to groups that worked to stop the acceleration of climate change, protect women’s rights and civil liberties, among many other progressive causes. Some of the groups CREDO funded in 2014 include 350.org, Amnesty International, Democracy Now and Planned Parenthood.
